Money or Passion What Drives Life

Updated: Jul 25, 2020

Both money and passion are important in life, nothing more nothing less. If there is money and no passion you will become a machine and if you have passion and no money you will burn yourself to a handful of ash. There must be balance in-between the two.

Choosing between career growth and money earning is an ancient dilemma that still troubles the minds of employees all over the globe.

How important is money? It’s a question many of us have pondered over at least once in our lives.

Money is a very powerful thing, it builds empires and breaks down kingdoms, it allows for dreams to come true and it takes others away, it makes some people happy and others completely miserable.

· Money: The biggest benefit is quite obvious – you get to earn a lot of money straight away. You can shop everything you need (and even more than that), buy a house, and pay for all other things you might consider relevant at a given moment.

· Safety: Needless to say, professionals who instantly earn a substantial amount of money feel much safer than their (financially) less successful peers. You don’t have to worry about market crashes, sudden changes in company management, or any other short-term issue for that matter.

· Respect: Although this benefit seems a little artificial, the fact remains that people tend to respect well-off individuals, particularly if they are both young and wealthy. It can make you proud and socially satisfied, which is never a bad thing.

· Save for a rainy day: The money you are able to accumulate guarantees peace of mind. No matter what happens with your job, you can move on smoothly. After all, once you’ve made enough money, perhaps you could even start doing something completely different.

Money is undeniably important in life. You can’t pay your bills and feed your family on just love and passion, and this is a harsh truth. However, there do exist a certain type of people who have no concern for money and what it can do for them. They find no pleasure in luxuries such as expensive watches, fine clothes and a big house. Their only aim in life is to follow their passion and create things, even if that means that they live hand-to-mouth. And then on the other end, there are people who have no passion in life but to chase money. You will be surprised to know that both kinds of people end up leading happy, full lives. There are different kinds of people, and thus, there is no single answer to whether you should seek money or not.

There are many people who earn copious amounts of money, but end up miserable, because their work was not what they wanted to do in the first place. Before making a decision between money and passion, introspect on this - will you really be happy 5 years down the line in a job you don’t like?

Pursuing your passion might not shower you with money or make you a top-of-the-line executive, what it will give you, however, is satisfaction. The satisfaction of working on something that is close to your heart, something that kindles your inner fire, and something you are good at.

Money is not the most important thing in life. In fact, in a healthy life, money often follows behind many other elements in your life. If you put your energy and time into other things more important than money, money will follow. It will find a way to work.

Why Following Your Passion Is More Important Than Money

“Enjoying your work certainly increases your happiness, but that will be mitigated if your passions can’t pay for food, water, shelter and utilities – if you can’t put money in a savings account… if the occasional splurge is entirely outside your reach.”

Money is a very powerful thing, it builds empires and breaks down kingdoms, it allows for dreams to come true and it takes others away, it makes some people happy and others completely miserable. Today the pursuit of money is almost directly linked to the pursuit of happiness, many will argue that money = happiness.

However, this is inherently problematic as this mindset leads many people to stray down a path that doesn’t best suit them. When people choose their careers, they are sometimes blinded by money. Many people who choose careers that don’t make them happy will tell you that they would all do it differently if they had the chance. You only have one life, so don’t waste it working somewhere you hate just because of the money.

Being forced to do work is one of the most draining experiences. While there are times at every job where you may feel the work may be draining and dull, you have to realize that not every day is going to be an enjoyable one. There are highs and lows, but when you are passionate about the work you you look past the dull days. Your creative process is also different. You are more inclined to come up with creative ideas when you like what you do.

Certain obligations at your work will require you to go above and beyond the call of duty. In certain times during the busy seasons, you may be asked to do certain tasks that are not part of your everyday schedule. It is much easier for you to put in the extra work if it’s something you actually care about. Because you are passionate about your job, you will be willing to put in the extra effort to go beyond what is required of you.

Conclusion: Remember work doesn’t have to be something that you hate doing, stay true to yourself and always do what makes you happy.
